baby shower reveal: blue and green "bean" theme

merrell is one of my dearest friends in this world, so naturally i was over the moon when she told me she was expecting!!  once the news traveled, a bunch of our friends quickly got to work in planning a fete to celebrate the baby's impending arrival.  merrell and her husband wilson (aka turbo) chose to let the gender be a surprise, so for 40 weeks they called their little bundle of joy "bean."  how cute...and gave us a fun theme for their shower!  the hostess acting as the creative lead for the affair, the wonderfully talented designer jen dipasquale of revival design in austin, texas, came up with a color palette of pool blue, crisp white and moss green.

calliespondence created the invitations you see below...thermography printed text sewn to a piece of pool cardstock.  the envelope was lined with a green sprout-ish paper.  i love designing invitations that really tie in to the party - it totally sets the tone and tells your guests what they can expect when they walk in the door.

here is a close up of the zig-zag stitching at the top.  the beauty really is in the details, isn't it?
here are a few pictures to show how the colors and theme were woven into the presentation of the food, favors, etc.

we made to-go candy bags to act as the favor...
every baby needs his or her own embossed napkins, right!?  these said "baby bean."  jen did all of the beautiful flower arrangements...which were in green bean cans!

check out those little beans made of yarn - jen handmade every last one of those guys.  then merrell used them on her nursery mobile afterwards!
jack and the beanstalk served as the guest book...everyone signed the inside cover.
here is merrell displaying an appropriately colored gift, even!

and look how cute merrell is.  the hostess gifts matched the shower colors.  she's good...
why yes, that IS a wedding cake that merrell is cutting into.  that we DID import to atlanta from chattanooga.  if you tasted it, you would see why!

merrell and wilson, thanks for giving us a fun reason to celebrate!!
