shopping on st. simons

if any of you ever make it down to st. simons, you simply must know that there is a tibi outlet there.  how random, you say?!  well, the founder of tibi, amy smilovic (who happened to be in my same sorority at the u. of georgia so we clearly would be total, inseparable bffs if we ever met), hails from st. simons and her parents still live there.  so it's not too random, and i could not be happier that this place exists.  (specifically, it's in redfern village - a big collection of cute, local shops.)

once i got closer to the door, all my dreams came true.

these were mainly dresses priced at either $75 or $125, so i grabbed about 12 to try on and headed inside.  i went mainly for the $75 items because honestly - i can get a tibi dress for $125 on sale at bloomie's and it ain't a sample.  know what i mean?

...but when i stepped inside i saw THIS!

can you see those prices???  bathing suit tops (which do not apply to me as i have retired all bikinis, forever) for $10, bathing suit bottoms for $5 and one piece suits for $19.  fab!  i couldn't leave without one one piece suit and two bathing suit bottoms - one for me, and one for brin.  i figure we can find cute solid color tankini tops (btw - can we get a new word for this item - it sounds SO maw maw) at j.crew and bam, done.

they also had stellar deals on fun party dresses (these were not samples - just overruns, i guess).

i loved this one.  how fun is that bib slash built in necklace?

alas, i did not find any winners in my pile of dressing room items.  but i am still on cloud nine from my bathing suit deals!

i also visited the bailey boys outlet - they have darling children's clothes.  but y'all, i have high, or is it low, standards for outlet shopping.  items must be things i would buy anyway, in good condition (i.e. not too irregular and no missing buttons - lord knows it will never find its way on there again in my care) and at GREAT deals, we're talking like 70% or 80% off.  they had darling things, but only at maybe 20% or 30% discounts.  i don't brake for that.

but my mom and i also went shopping (kind of) in the real estate market.  not that we're buying a house down there or anything, but isn't it fun to think about which ones you would buy?

i found mine.  actually, i might be in a bidding war with my mom - we both ogled it long enough i'm surprised the owners didn't come out to chase us away.

of course it has an original brick fireplace.

did i mention it's a mere block from the beach?  and did you see that tree??

if that one happens to be unavailable, i suppose i could settle on one of these other ones.

i am such a sucker for storm shutters (there has to be a cuter name for those?).

tabby + upstairs porch + aqua door = yes please.

a red door is so perfect for a beach house.

i know rbb is glad i only spent $30 at the tibi outlet and didn't get us in the hole for a beach house mortgage.  but here's hoping, one day!

xoxo
