lydie's nest birth announcement and calling cards

y'all met merrell yesterday and saw her fun baby shower.  well, the reason for that shower joined us back in april and her name is lydia moore mcginness (she is called "lydie"...or "fuss") and she is just PRECIOUS!  her arrival had to be proclaimed with a special birth announcement, of course.  merrell and i got to work and she decided she wanted to feature a nest, and she loved a thread detail.  lydie's nursery is a wonderland of creativity (merrell's just like that...you may recall her amazing purse line? i always was partial to this one), all in hues of green and blue.  merrell thought it would be nice to use a soft blue from the nursery in the baby announcement, which i LOVED - i just adore unexpected color choices, like blue for a girl.  

we did a thermography printed announcement in a goldish tan color and mounted it on a soft blue cardstock.  then i sewed a little pink patterned 'egg' onto the announcement so it fit just in that little nest we had printed...and lined the matching envelopes in the same pink pattern.  i just love love love the way it turned out - the colors are fresh and the detail of the nest and egg...it's the perfect way to epitomize a new baby, isn't it?  you may not be able to read it, but the text on the right reads "we've added one to our nest."

we also created corresponding calling cards for sweet lydie...playing off the nest theme and colors.

for being just a wee little thing, lydie has really made strides in the correspondence department!
