now...get ready for some fun! ok, so here's the problem with children getting older (aside from them getting older and bigger in general, which i am finding to be a huge problem)...they fall in love with characters they see on tv and then want things with that character on them, and you end up with a dora the explorer trash can and lightning mcqueen socks. no judgement, as i have a little one who loves anything, and i mean anything, so long as ol' lightning's countenance is on it. but the same goes for their birthday parties - do you really have to have thomas the train plastered all over the invitations? why, of course not!! you can still throw a stylish party and keep the little one happy all the while (actually, see a great example of a thomas-esque train party here).
my client katherine's daughter kate is really into yo gabba gabba, and judging by how this invite has flown off the shelves of my etsy shop, your little ones are too! i always have the most fun working with katherine (remember her amazing matryoshka doll party?). she had the color palette established already and knew what characters she wanted on the invite, which i then drew. to that, we added a swiss dot border & custom envelope liner along with a pennant...and i think it turned out just darling.
this design could easily be used for a boy if you switch out those pink pennant flags to turquoise!
the party was super cute, as per usual.
i love that in her email, katherine pointed out the red solo eyeball cups positioned next to wedding silver pitcher. hilarious.
and really...how cute are they. p.s. that baby is henry, who had the hybrid birth announcement!
i wish i knew more about yo gabba gabba so i could end with a phrase they use on the show...alas. but i do know that on sesame street, murray always signs off with "peace."
i suppose that'll do. peace!
xoxo

They end with a big "Yo Gabba Gabba!" I think it's like Aloha and it can be used in every circumstance.
