1. be more organized. i think i say this every year / season / month / day / whatever. but i am going to get down to brass tacks and sort, file, store and label with martha stewart-esque brute force. surely this new little diddy i recently got from kate spade will help immensely and not just look pretty in my purse.
i also recently purchased this filing drawer (or...work dresser??) to help me in this effort...that whole bottom drawer is for files, and i thought i could use the top drawers for extraneous paper. (not nearly all of my extraneous paper, but at least some of it.) now i just need to file some things to put in it, hrm...
2. be better at remembering things. is this even possible? i might start carrying around a notepad at all times; didn't they used to sell some with a shoelace around them so you can wear them as a necklace?? kidding...but there are so many times that i wish i had written something down to reference. plus it's a great way to remember things. i always thought "pregnancy brain" would go away once the baby came and you were getting a good night's rest...no. turns out it's now just called "new mom brain" and i think my sharper days are behind me. sigh. so i guess i need to start carrying more paper. which may interfere with number 3...
isn't this a cute notebook? from iomoi.
3. keep a clean purse. this one is hard for me. i always have good intentions when i move into a new bag, but ultimately it becomes a petri dish of loose papers, coupons i meant to use, receipts (that desperately need to be filed away in drawers shown above!!), toddler snack wrappers and lipstick caps. oy.
another one of those nelle purses i'm obsessed with - soon to be carried at bon lemon's shoppe!
4. get a manicure more often. i know, right? usually people don't have resolutions to spend more money on superfluous things, but i think this it worth it. when i have a manicure, i feel like i have it all figured out (of course i totally don't) and that i am one of those "together" people (again - not by a long shot). i sort of feel like i can conquer the world with a fresh mani. not bad for $10, right?
5. clean out my closet. really, why do i have a DVF top that i got at loehmann's three years ago with the tags still on?? i know it's DVF and it was only $18 (which is a deal i usually only dream about!) but i will probably never wear it. it's just not "me" - and yes, i have asked myself why i bought it...i really get carried away at a good bargain. rbb always tells me "you don't save any money by buying something on sale." yeah, yeah...
there are so many stories like that top among the clothes that take up space hanging in my closet. i need to be ruthless in my goodwill donations.
now if i had a closet carrie's size...#5 would find itself on the chopping block. but i don't.
alright, five initiatives for the new year. and one is to visit my nail place more often. that shouldn't be too hard, right?
xoxo
